Day 01 Arrive Chennai

You will be greeted by company representative at Chennai airport and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay. (Standard check in time at hotels is 1400 hours)viagra

Day 02 Chennai-Kanchipuram (75 Kms)

In the morning after breakfast, we drive for a day excursion to Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram is a spectacular temple city and is popular for its silk sarees. It is also known for its culture and civilization. The city was the capital of the early Cholas and it was the capital of Pallavas between 6th and 8th centuries. On arrival, we visit Kailasanatha Temple, this is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Tamilnadu. There are 58 small shrines situated around the main shrine, as a compound wall. This shall be followed by a visit to Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple along with Ekambareswarar temple and Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipuram is popularly known as Mumurtivasam (abode to trio) while Sri Rangam is referred to as The Koil (meaning ‘temple’) and Tirupathi as the Malai (meaning ‘hill’) . In the evening we return to our hotel in Chennai for overnight.


Day 03 Chennai-Mahabalipuram-Pondicherry (165 Kms)

After breakfast and checkout from the hotel, we start our drive to Pondicherry, en-route visiting Mahabalipuam also known as Mamallapuram (A classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It has historic monuments built largely between the 7th and 9th century and has named after The Pallava King Mamalla. After the visit, we proceed to Pondicherry. On arrival, check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 04 Pondicherry-Thanjavur (166 Kms)

Located perfectly on the Coromandel shoreline, Union Territory of Pondicherry was ruled by the French for more than 3 centuries and today it symbolizes the living monument of the French culture in India. Visit Auroville (city of dawn), an experimental township devoted towards ‘Unity of Mankind’. Later we would visit Sacred Heart Church and Shri Aurobindo Ashram. On completion of the sightseeing, we drive to Thanjavur. Upon, arrival, check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 05 Thanjavur-Trichy-Madurai (188 Kms)

After breakfast and checkout from the hotel, we visit Palace Complex and the famous Brihadeeswarar Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple testifies to the brilliant achievements of the Chola empire in architecture, sculpture, paintings and bronze castings. It is one of the greatest glories of Indian architecture. Built in 1010 AD by Raja Raja Chola in Thanjavur, Brihadeeswarar temple, also popularly known as ‘Big Temple’ turned 1000 years old in 2010. After visit we drive to Trichy, which is situated on the banks of the river Cauvery. Trichy is a fine blend of tradition and modernity built around the Rock Fort. Must see places include Sri Rangam Ranga Nathar temple and Rock Fort Ganpathi temple. Once we finish the visit, we proceed to Madurai. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 06 Madurai

After breakfast, full day sightseeing of Madurai. Madurai is one of the oldest cities in South India and has been the center of learning and pilgrimage for centuries. Visit Tirumalai Nayak Mahal and the Gandhi museum. Later in the evening, visit Sri Meenakshi temple. Meenakshi temple is a spectacular pastiche of Dravidian architecture. The temple occupies an area of 6 hectares. Its 12 highly decorative Gopurams range in height from 45m to 50m and are adorned with carvings of celestial and animal figures. Take a rickshaw ride around the temple. Later return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 07 Madurai-Thekkady (140 Kms)

After breakfast and checkout, leave for Thekkady (Periyar). Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Afternoon visit Periyar National Park. It is an abode of animals like Sambars, Tigers, Lion tailed Macaques, Gaurs, Nilgiri Langurs, Elephants to name a few. It was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. It also has an artificial lake. You can enjoy a boat ride on the lake. Hopefully one might be able to spot wildlife. Periyar is also considered a heaven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and clove. Evening is at leisure to stroll through the local market. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 08 Thekkady-Kumarakom (120 Kms)

In the morning, around 7am to 9.30am, leave for a Spice plantation tour with a naturalist followed by visit to an Elephant camp where you can enjoy elephant bathing and ride. Return to hotel for breakfast and check out. Leave for Kumarakom, which is another jewel in the crown of God’s Own Country – Kerala. The tropical city of Kumarakom has cluster of small picturesque islands around the Vembanad Lake, with its beautiful landscapes and scenic environment. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel. Evening is at leisure. You may take a sunset cruise on Vembanad Lake or go for an rejuvenating Ayurvedic massage (on direct payment basis, this is not included in our quote). Excellent marine and freshwater fish including tasty karimeen (also known as pearl spotted fish), shrimp and prawns are available in the area, making it perfect to enjoy a lip smacking sea food platter. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 09 Kumarakom-Alleypey-Kumarakom

After breakfast, one hour drive takes you to the Jettey at Alleypey (also known as Venice of the East) Board a houseboat (old rice barges) at 1200 hours for a day cruise. It is interesting to watch the village life as you cruise. Lunch will be served on the houseboat. In the evening, return to Kumarakom for overnight stay.

Day 10 Kumarakom-Cochin (80 Kms)

After breakfast and checkout, leave for Cochin. Cochin (also known as Kochi) is truly a
museum city. Fort Cochin is believed to be the oldest European settlement in India. Half day is spent visiting, Dutch Palace, Jew Town, Chinese Fishing nets and St. Francis Xavier’s Church. To end the day, enjoy Katahkali Dance performance. Check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 11 Cochin Departure

After breakfast, day is free for individual activities. Late, in-time transfer to airport to board flight for onward journey.
